VFD

VFD also known as Adjustable Frequency Drive (AFD) or Variable Voltage/Variable Frequency (VVVF) drive or Variable Speed Drive (VSD) or AC drive or AC Inverter drives for 3 phase electric induction motors. The basic function of the VFD is to act as a variable frequency generator in order to vary speed of the motor as per the user setting.

VFDs are used in applications ranging from small appliances to large compressors. About 25% of the world's electrical energy is consumed by electric motors in industrial applications. Systems using VFDs can be more efficient than those using throttling control of fluid flow, such as in systems with pumps and damper control for fans. However, the global market penetration for all applications of VFDs is relatively small.

VFD MCC Switchboards are typically found in large commercial buildings for HVAC Plant or industries where there are many electric motors that need to be controlled from a central location, such as a mechanical room or electrical room.
